What our objective is
We are a family run horse operation my Wife, Daughter & I have hand selected some of the best bred mares in the area. We only breed to the best bred stallions that we can find. We only raise 2-3 head of colts a year so we can mess with & play with them from day one. We have a small number of cattle on our place that our colts are born around so there not affraid of cattle, or dogs.
We started our horse operation about 17 years ago & within the past 8 years have started Training, Breeding, & Raising quality Quarter Horses reg with the AQHA as a business. We take pride in the horses that we ride, raise, & sell as a family. And we NEVER buy & sell sale barn horses.
We live on a 16 acre farm in central South Dakota, We strive to raise the blood lines that you read & hear about in the papers in the reining & working cow horse industry. We have some of the best lines like Catalena Boy, Poco Bueno, Smart Little Lena,Chex That Out, King, Wimpy, Doc Olena, Smart Lil Ricochet & Grey Starlight. To name a few. All our mares are anything but sorrel so we also strive to have color in our herd. We at Shawn Oaks Quarter Horses work hard to please our clients & help them achive the goals they want out of there horse or horses. I've been in the horse industry for 17+ years & have shown everything from halter to pleasure to learning how to train reining horses. As a trainer I am open to new ways & new ideas all the time. My moto is if you think you know everything your not a true trainer.
